As wedding photographers, we want to make sure you have great experiences with all photographers so that we can each maintain great reputations in the industry. We want to photograph your wedding just as much as you want us to- if not more. For us, it’s about passion. For you, it’s about memories. Utah has many young newlyweds and it’s not uncommon for many people to be on a strict budget. We want to give you a few tips to ensure that years from now you are still proudly
showing off your wedding photos.
Pre-wedding pictures
If you can only afford a few hours of coverage we recommend that you don’t have your photographers spend the majority of it at your reception. Ask your photographers to arrive early so that they can take some pictures of you and your husband getting ready before the big moment. Before the wedding (and even reception) is a good time for your photographers to take many detail shots. These detail shots can consist of all the precious ornaments and decorations that you spent so much time picking out. They can include ring shots, reception house, food, etc. Our experience with hundreds of satisfied clients tells us that our time as photographers is better spent taking pictures of these often forgotten details than hugging random people
who you may not remember 20 years from now.

Ceremony
Part of your responsibilities at your wedding is to enjoy your wedding day with your loved one. The week before your wedding (if not sooner) go over some of the shots you want your photographers to take on your wedding day. Your photographers want to make you happy! The more informed they are of what you want, the more time they can spend ensuring all your demands are met. A checklist of photos is a great way to make sure this is accomplished.
Reception
We would suggest that if you are going the traditional route and are going to have a bouquet toss, cake cutting, garter toss, etc. that you setup a time for each of these events. More often than not you can do all of the traditional events in the same hour. The photographers want to capture all these moments with you, so make sure to schedule these events when the photographers are there to ensure that you will both be ecstatic and pleased. And to take it one step further, know that lighting has a huge affect on your photos. Although night shots are fun, you will probably be happier with your photos if these major events take place during a time which natural light is available to your photographers.
Albums and other goodies-
There is no better way to house your photos than in a custom-designed album. (The last thing you want to do is exile your photos to your computer hard drive!) Albums allow not only you and your spouse but everyone who comes to visit a chance to relive the poignant memories and feelings of your wedding. Further, they can be the perfect means to tell your whole story of your wedding day, from the last-minute, pre-ceremony preparations to the emotionally charged send-off. For those who have already spent their entire photography budget for the wedding coverage, there’s still hope. Talk to your photographers and notify them that you would like to purchase an album down the road and then follow up with them when you are ready to proceed. But if you do have enough room in your budget, try and purchase an album along with your wedding package. Photographers might be willing to discount albums if you are already purchasing other services from them.
