A new kind of theft has emerged that you should know about.

Wedding crashers who come and steal money envelopes from the gift table. They come dressed for your wedding, they mingle, they eat, then they casually walk over to place an envelope in the designated location at the gift table. Or at least so it would seem. Instead they use a coat to cover the envelopes and grab them up while no one is looking, and leave the reception. With so many people coming and going and visiting on such a happy occasion, there are enough distractions that one would not suspect a theft right under our noses.

For many young couples, those envelopes of money and gift cards are very sacred, especially when you are just starting out. And guests want to make sure that their gifts arrive to the couple when they get back from their honeymoon.

We hope that you will spread the word so that all wedding celebrations continue to be the joyous occasions they are supposed to be.

What to do about it

There is no reason to go overboard on this, but use a little caution.

1. Make sure that the gift table is in plain sight of everything and not hidden in a corner of the room. It can make for a great display area as part of the reception.

2. Assign a few attendants to keep watch over the table so that they can rotate around and enjoy the festivities.

3. Have the gift table attendant periodically place those envelopes received in a concealed place behind all of the bigger gifts so that they are not always in easy reach at the front of the table.

Most Importantly…

Have a wonderful time. Delegate the task, relax, and enjoy the fabulous party!
