Hannah and Ryan are just one of those couples with a ton of personality and uniqueness and it really shows in their pictures.  I love trying to get the couples hobbies and interests showcased in their photography some how.  The theme for their wedding was Alice in Wonderland, but Hannah wanted it more based on the book than the Disney movie-a little more dark, but still quirky.  Her colors were bright pink, green, orange, with black and white accents.

ENGAGEMENTS:

We started off their engagement session in more traditional clothes that coordinated, but didnt match at a more traditional location.  This is a great idea if you are doing more non-traditional pictures to keep parents and grandparents happy!

Then Hannah put on a bright pink cardigan, striped black and white tights and pink shoes with a cute black dress and Ryan put on a white dress shirt and black and white tie and we took some more non-traditional pictures with bright colored backgrounds.

Finally, they put on some great jackets and we found a wall that even had Alice in it as well as a Beatles cover-which is their favorite band.  We also incorporated Ryans love of comics and even a fun polaroid shot.

INVITATIONS:

Hannah and Ryan wanted their invitations inspired by the illustrations from the old Lewis Carroll Alice in Wonderland books.  She found a tree that she really liked and I designed a custom tree for her invitation with her colors, pink and green behind it.  Then we put a bunch of fun, brightly colored pictures in the rest of the invitation with a custom logo of their names on each of the cards.  You can really make your invitation unique by putting some thought into how you want it-then let a professional design it for you.

BRIDALS:

Hannah had a very unique bouquet made by Pricess Lasertron who is lives in Nebraska.  It was made of felt flowers and buttons and other materials.  She also had her dress hand made with two colored sashes; one champagne colored one for the more traditional pictures, and one orange iridescent one for the more funky, fun pictures.  She wore her striped tights and bright green shoes with hot pink accents under her dress to add some flare.  We did her first session of bridals at a more traditional location, but one that had lots of color.  Then she decided she also wanted some urban looking pictures and to try her hair styled in a different way so she could pick which way she liked better for her wedding (you cant redo your wedding day, so this is a great option).  By doing two bridal sessions, she was able to get totally different looks in her pictures.

WEDDING:

Hannah started her day wearing her champagne sash and Ryan wore his traditional black shoes.   Then after group pictures she changed into her orange sash and Ryan put on some Chucks (Converse shoes).  We took some traditional pictures at the temple then ventured out to take some non-traditional temple pictures.  I really believe that it is important to take some traditional pictures at a wedding because sometimes parents and grandparents wont want the non-traditional ones, and it is nice to think of them and what they want on their wall!  Make sure you showcase a little of your personality on your wedding day!

RECEPTION:

Hannah and Ryan found some really cool trees at Tai Pan, then spray painted them and put crystals, pocket watches and oversized playing cards in them for their centerpieces.  The tent was decorated with Chinese lanterns and colored balls.  There were panels of color and black and white stripes with bright colored flowers around the room.  One of my favorite things that they did was use an old Alice in Wonderland book for their guest book and had the guest sign inside the pages and write them messages.  That is one guest book you will actually look at again!
