When it comes to flowers… they can dictate the entire look and personality of your event or simply pull it all together…
Example #1

Let’s say your colors are Chocolate Brown and Antique Golds, obviously there are not a lot of flowers that come in these tones but by adding a deep wine(red) tone in the flowers you then unify the look!

Example #2

If the tones are Tiffany Blue and Dark Chocolate… and you are wondering what flowers to use, go with creams and whites accented with ribbons and fabrics in the blue and chocolate tones!

When ordering flowers with a designer, keep in mind that flowers and fabrics are rarely the same tones, Don’t try and match them it is usually more visually interesting to choose your fabrics and then let the flowers fill in the gaps… instead of just using one shade of yellow that match the fabric, use shades of that tone it will also photograph amazing and give the look a bit more sophistication!

More about color… use color tones that are timeless, that does not mean boring. I often suggest to brides stay away from being too trendy and use colors that will stand the test of time. You don’t want to look back at your pictures and think why I chose that!

Example #3

If you like the Chocolate and Blue tones or Chocolate and Pink tones maybe reinvent the look and use classic combinations like Rich Reds with blush pink accents and Chocolate tones or another thought would be Chocolates, Champagnes, and Creams… these tones will stand up against those come and go trends.

Now let’s talk about making it your own… If you have pictures you have seen don’t just duplicate them give them a unique to you twist…  Expect your floral designer or wedding planner to add to reinvent what you see in a picture and make it become just for you. Also, we as designers thrive on that creative process.

Example #4

One of our brides wanted us to incorporate the fact that she was a Chef in her centerpiece designs so we used little clay pots that we hand painted Robins Egg Blue and filled them with fresh herbs such as Rosemary and Bay leaves… tied in True Red and these were placed on the tables with live and growing Red Geraniums in Robin’s Egg blue wire baskets… It was such a gardeny look for a Wedding in the middle of July and it also made the event detailed and very specific to her.

If you are a bride that just loves color in general, don’t shy away from incorporating them all!  Lots of brides have the notion that you need to stick to two to three colors for your weddings color palate.  But you can have a very broad color palate and have it not look like a circus!  Have fun with it and allow your florist brainstorm with you to find the product to make your wedding fabulous!
