Having recently taken the plunge, bitten the bullet, fastened the chain (connected to ball) or what have you, and especially having attended a multitude of weddings over the years, I contend the groom should, after all, have a say when it comes to making the plans. The wedding will always be her day—without question—but there is absolutely no reason why you can’t offer some input, even if your fiancée doesn’t agree that a football cake or Texas tuxedo will make the event extra special. Not to mention the fact that today, costs are often split between families or the couples themselves—all the more reason for your needed suggestions.

HOT Makeup Advice from Anna K

-By LatterDayBride

July 23rd 2009

In addition to doing bridal makeup for private clients, Anna K Findlay of Anna K Style (www.annakstyle.com) has been a professional hair and makeup stylist for television, feature film, and theater for the past eight years. She is on the cutting edge of makeup technique and has some advice for brides on their big day.

“I feel that makeup should make the scene but not be seen. Makeup does its job best when it enhances your natural beauty without calling attention to itself. How to wear your heals on your wedding day with confidence

By Dawn Wessman

highheels 150x150 Walk with Poise and Beauty

It’s every bride’s nightmare.

Uncle Ted has his camera rolling as you exit the temple doors. You are radiant as the sun crests gently over the mountains. You pose for a few still shots, delicately placing your slippered feet on the granite steps. You bask in the senses of the day: the smells, sights, and sounds.

Then, your body remembers that it has no idea how to walk in these brand-new heels. On steep steps. On slippery granite. Enveloped in ten yards of tulle.

Your shining moment and the resulting plunge to the steps below become Uncle Ted’s YouTube sensation, with plenty of “LOLs” and “ROFLs” to go around.

And it could have been avoided.

Listed below are some tips that, when practiced, will take you down the steps and through the entire day with grace and confidence.

Latter-Day Woman, June/July 2009 Issue (Washington State)

One of the great wedding sites to visit on the internet is BrideAccess.com, formerly UtahBrides.com. This site has some great tools and a fantastic selection of recommended vendors. Even though, at this time, the vendors listed are only for the State of Utah, (they have plans to expand to other areas of the country in the future) the site has  absolutely fabulous tips, advice and ideas for creating the wedding of your dreams. There is, also, a weekly television show, featuring the BrideAccess experts, discussing everything wedding-related, from design to relationships. For those of us not in Utah – past episodes may be watched by simply visiting the website. As a prospective bride, you can register (free) to gain even more “access” to wedding planning tools and tips. Read more…
